The undisputed titan of the isekai genre, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, is poised to dominate the spring anime landscape. The chronicles of Rimuru and his burgeoning Tempest Kingdom will continue in a highly anticipated fourth season, officially scheduled to premiere on Crunchyroll this April 3.
Curiously, the streaming platform opted for nostalgia rather than new footage to break the news, re-releasing the original teaser from two years ago that first signaled the development of season four and the franchise’s second theatrical film. This lack of new visuals has done little to dampen the community’s enthusiasm. Since December 2025, fans have known that the series would return this spring with an ambitious four-cour broadcast schedule. Additionally, the cinematic venture That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea will begin its international rollout on April 26, reaching North American audiences on May 1.
Affectionately referred to as TenSura, the series has garnered a massive global following by subverting traditional isekai tropes. While it retains staples like a formidable protagonist and RPG-inspired mechanics, the narrative distinguishes itself through its focus on complex diplomacy and meticulous nation-building. It maintains a generally wholesome atmosphere, largely steering clear of controversial fan service while still indulging in the occasional “slice-of-life” beach or hot spring excursion. The heart of the story remains Rimuru Tempest—a former Japanese office worker who, following a fatal stabbing, is reborn as a lowly slime. From those humble beginnings, he has ascended to become the sovereign of a multicultural paradise where diverse monster races coexist in peace.
However, Rimuru’s benevolent vision faces significant opposition. As he strives for global harmony, his influence will inevitably collide with clandestine forces and ancient powers in the upcoming episodes. With a massive television run and a new feature film converging, 2026 is officially destined to be the Year of the Slime.
