Dozens Sign US Army Contracts to Get Time Off for GTA VI Release

A US Army unit is offering soldiers four days of leave around the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI as an incentive to reenlist.

The promotion is currently available to members of the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion stationed at Fort Stewart. Service members who extend their contracts by at least two years, up to a maximum of six years, qualify for the bonus time off.

Around 130 soldiers are eligible for the incentive. A US Army spokesperson told CBS News that 20 service members from the battalion have already accepted the offer and re-enlisted.

The four-day pass is scheduled to coincide with the game’s arrival. Command leadership intends the incentive to bolster retention and improve unit morale.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not yet announced a release date or window for the PC version.
