“The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Inception” Added to US National Film Registry

Media reports have confirmed the latest cinematic treasures selected for permanent preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

This year’s prestigious inductees include Wes Anderson’s whimsical The Grand Budapest Hotel, Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending Inception, John Carpenter’s sci-fi horror The Thing, and Peter Weir’s The Truman Show featuring Jim Carrey. Other notable additions joining the archives are Pixar’s The Incredibles, the romantic drama Before Sunrise, the pop-culture staple Clueless, the martial arts classic The Karate Kid, and the evocative biopic Frida.

Each year, the National Film Preservation Board handpicks 25 motion pictures recognized for their cultural, historical, or aesthetic significance. With these new entries, the registry now boasts a total of 925 preserved works.
