Paramount Skydance leadership has opted to postpone its proposed merger with Warner Bros. Discovery until June 1, 2027, according to media reports.

This delay follows a wave of legal challenges alleging that the consolidation would violate antitrust regulations. Opposition to the deal has been widespread, involving 12 U.S. states, the Writers Guild, as well as prominent Hollywood directors and actors. Notably, the merger had already secured clearance from both U.S. federal authorities and the European Commission.

Earlier this year, Paramount outbid Netflix for Warner Bros. with an offer valued at $111 billion. Paramount CEO David Ellison had initially committed to finalizing the acquisition by September 30, 2026, pledging to pay shareholders a penalty of $7 million per day for any subsequent delays.
