The Deadliest Final Fantasy Commander Deck in Magic Just Got a Major Price Cut

It is hard to believe that the Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy set arrived nearly a year ago, yet we are still seeing impressive discounts on the preconstructed Commander decks from that collaboration.

A prime example is the Final Fantasy VI-themed Revival Trance deck, which has dipped back below the $40 threshold. While this deck is generally the most accessible and affordable of the bunch, it remains a fantastic entry point for players looking to start the format, especially for dedicated fans of the classic RPG.

Despite other sets in the collection becoming increasingly scarce, the Revival Trance deck remains readily available at a substantial 43% discount. While it might lack the tight mechanical synergy found in its Final Fantasy VII, X, and XIV counterparts, it offers a distinct and enjoyable play experience.

This Mardu (red-white-black) deck revolves around recurring creatures from the graveyard to maintain a persistent, aggressive board state. This strategy is anchored by the primary commander, Terra, Herald of Hope.

Terra is a versatile 3/3 threat that gains flying at the start of combat and mills two cards. Most importantly, whenever she deals combat damage, you can pay two generic mana to resurrect a creature with power three or less from your graveyard. This allows you to attack aggressively while recycling blockers to protect your position against incoming threats.

Celes, Rune Knight serves as the secondary commander option. Her ability places +1/+1 counters on creatures as they return from the graveyard, creating a natural mechanical harmony with Terra rather than forcing a pivot to a completely different playstyle.

It is also worth noting that this box includes a “Collector Sample Booster Pack.” While these short-lived, two-card boosters were phased out in later 2026 sets, they provide a fun chance at alternate art treatments—a nice little bonus for your purchase.

While the deck’s core focus is on smaller creatures, you will find some underwhelming cards like Sabin, Master Monk or Kefka, Dancing Mad that you may eventually want to swap out. This gives you the perfect opportunity to customize the deck with better red, white, or black support cards. Interestingly, the other iteration of this character, Terra, Magical Adept, does not slot into this deck particularly well, so be mindful when browsing for upgrades.

If you want to lean further into the Final Fantasy aesthetic, cards like Vincent Valentine, Squall (SeeD Mercenary), Rosa (Resolute White Mage), Sephiroth (Fabled SOLDIER), and Aerith Gainsborough make excellent additions. For example, pairing Squall with Terra allows you to trigger double strike when she attacks alone, while Sephiroth provides a great way to fuel your graveyard for Terra’s revival ability. If Aerith is on the board, she can accumulate counters that transfer to your legendaries upon her exit, creating a powerful engine for your late-game board state.

While the Counter Blitz and Limit Break decks are often cited as the powerhouses of this set, the Revival Trance deck offers incredible value at this price point. It is a fantastic pickup for any Final Fantasy VI enthusiast looking to dive into Commander. Act quickly, however—this inventory is already moving fast.
