Team Cherry Comments on Future Hollow Knight Installments After Silksong

Team Cherry hasn’t ruled out another Hollow Knight entry after Silksong, but said any new project wouldn’t be a direct sequel. Ari Gibson and William Pellen made the remarks in an interview.

Silksong launched on September 4, 2025, and became a hit almost immediately. The game attracted more than 5 million players in under a week. About 3 million purchased it on Steam, even though it was available on Xbox Game Pass.

The creators said they’re pleased with the outcome, calling Silksong “the best realization of the original idea.” Gibson clarified, “If more games appear someday, we’d like them to exist alongside each other,” effectively ruling out a direct Silksong 2.

Silksong began as DLC for Hollow Knight—announced during the 2014 Kickstarter—but in 2019 it evolved into a standalone title. The studio is currently developing DLC for Silksong.

Judging by their past practice, Team Cherry is unlikely to announce a new project in the near future.
