Target and Walmart Stop Selling Physical Xbox Games — Rumor

Per unverified reports from individuals claiming to be employees, Target and Walmart are removing physical Xbox game inventory. Reddit user Jawwaad127 says every Xbox title was taken off the shelves at their local Target and believes the change affects stores nationwide.

“On Wednesday our Target cleared out all the Xbox games, and I think this will be across the chain,” the alleged employee says. “All copies were pulled from stock and will probably be sold off. After so many years of carrying Xbox, it’s odd to see only PlayStation and Nintendo on the shelves.”

The Target staffer also reflected with some nostalgia: “In ten years I imagine stores won’t stock physical games—just download cards. It’s sad; I spent so much time by the video game aisles and have a lot of memories there.”

Reddit user Spacefox_85, who claims to work at Walmart, reported that their store is likewise removing Xbox titles. “We’re remodeling the electronics department and the new layout doesn’t include Xbox. Switch and PlayStation will remain in their fixtures. In a year here I can count on one hand how many times I’ve sold an Xbox game.”

If confirmed, Target and Walmart wouldn’t be the first — reports suggest Costco and EB Games have already been reducing Xbox console and game selections both in stores and online.
