Players will soon be able to take on dangerous arbiter missions, battle mercenaries in the Underhive, and encounter colorful characters alongside Ophelia Scar, Zakk Merdena, Jarl Hanson, and Vorg Kurrak in the tabletop miniature game Warhammer Necromunda Roleplay.

At The Big Summer Warhammer Preview Show 2026, Games Workshop announced the miniature tabletop game Warhammer Necromunda Roleplay, which will offer players entirely new ways to explore the Underhive.

Participants play as a group of bounty hunters known as venators, completing missions set by an arbiter, who serves as the local equivalent of a gamemaster. The arbiter presents the story to the other players, enforces the game rules, and develops the narrative shaped by the participants’ actions.

The project is compatible with the entire Necromunda miniature lineup and comes with new charismatic models. The player characters include Ophelia Scar, an assassin of House Escher; Zakk Merdena, a gunfighter of House Orlock; Jarl Hanson, a Squat fixer; and Vorg Kurrak, a House Goliath champion. The box includes quick-start rules for each of them, alongside alternative assembly options for players who want to create their own custom venators.

These heroes can encounter many engaging individuals, such as Nix Scrud the fence, Kaiborn Nex the saboteur, Hive Preacher Helman Forge, Harl Gorronia the corpse-merchant, and Ateraxis the heretek accompanied by a servo-skull.

During hazardous adventures, players will battle the scum of the Hive. This refers to eight nameless hired guns that can be assembled with a wide variety of weapon options. Alongside 18 brand-new plastic miniatures, the starter set includes a 224-page rulebook packed with background lore on the Warhammer 40,000 universe, game rules, instructions for creating custom characters, and guidelines for advancing them between adventures, including skill improvements.

The box also contains advice for the arbiter and two complete adventures: “Foul Intelligence,” in which players hunt down a Van Saar heretek, and “Pilgrimage of Bones,” where participants are tasked with eliminating a Cawdor preacher on behalf of the Corpse Harvesting Guild.

Additionally, the box includes two double-sided cardboard gaming mats depicting regions of the Underhive and the Ash Wastes where venators will fight dangerous foes, along with 11 player reference sheets. An arbiter screen packed with useful reference information is also included, allowing the gamemaster to hide their devious plans from the other participants.

Combat encounters in Warhammer Necromunda Roleplay use a system familiar to players of Necromunda Skirmish, utilizing miniatures with single and double actions, hit rolls, and injury rolls, but with a roleplaying twist. The box also includes D10 and D100 dice, familiar D6 dice, and firepower and injury dice that work alongside character skills to determine what results participants must roll.

Necromunda Roleplay will launch simultaneously with its first series expansion, Journal Apocrypha: Denizens of the Hive – Adversaries Book 1. This 48-page journal includes profiles for 51 additional potential enemies or allies, created using a wide variety of Necromunda miniatures.

The Warhammer Necromunda Roleplay Core Set and the first journal are scheduled to go on sale in the near future.
