Suikoden II Anime Adaptation Gets New Trailer and Premiere Date

Production is handled by Konami’s newly opened internal studio.

Konami has released the third trailer for Suikoden: The Anime and revealed its premiere date. The adaptation of the cult JRPG Suikoden II will begin airing on October 3, and the first episode will feature an extended runtime of one hour.

The trailer previews both musical themes for the series. The opening theme is performed by amazarashi, and the ending theme is “closed eye sun” by Koji Nakamura, featuring Honoka Takahashi.

The story unfolds against the backdrop of a conflict between the Kingdom of Highland and the Jowston City-State Republic. Main characters Riou and Jowy serve in the Unicorn Brigade, a unit of young Highland soldiers. Following a peace treaty, the years-long hostility seems to be a thing of the past, but the heroes are soon drawn into a new war that will shape the fate of both nations.

Production is handled by the newly created internal studio KONAMI animation, with Yuzo Sato serving as director. The original Suikoden II was released in 1998 on the PlayStation and is considered one of the most celebrated JRPGs of its generation due to its political narrative, large-scale conflict between states, tactical battles, and roster of 108 playable characters.
