Subnautica Developers Have Secret “Project Labrador” — Former Studio Head

Former Unknown Worlds CEO Ted Gill revealed an unannounced title codenamed Project Labrador and discussed a Subnautica film being overseen by Charlie Cleveland.

During the lawsuit between Krafton and the studio’s co‑founders it emerged that the team had been developing a confidential project whose release the publisher blocked. Gill said he would like to return as CEO to oversee the Subnautica 2 launch, produce the film, and guide Project Labrador to release.

“We spent three and a half years relentlessly working on Subnautica 2. The launch was close, and losing it at the last moment was heartbreaking,” Gill said. He added that Charlie was not involved in Subnautica 2’s development.

“There is another game — Project Labrador. I want to see it released.”

Krafton said the postponement of Subnautica 2 was intended to “deliver the best possible experience for players” and pointed to a lack of active leadership from the co‑founders.
