With the final season of Stranger Things fast approaching, the Duffer brothers have offered a quick option for fans who don’t have the time or inclination to rewatch the series from the beginning.

Creators Matt and Ross Duffer singled out four episodes they believe will efficiently refresh viewers’ memories ahead of Season 5. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter they explained that the selection quickly restores the key elements of the show’s mythology and the plot threads connected to Will Byers and Vecna.

Recommended episodes:

  • Season 2, Episode 4 — “Will the Wise”;
  • Season 2, Episode 6 — “The Spy”;
  • Season 4, Episode 7 — “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab”;
  • Season 4, Episode 9 — “The Break-In”.

According to Matt Duffer, it was in the second season that the team truly began to build the series’ mythology, while the events of the fourth season directly echo what audiences will encounter in the finale. Ross Duffer added that “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab” acts as a launching point for revealing the Upside Down’s secrets and sets up the storylines of Henry and Eleven — both central to the forthcoming conclusion.

The fifth season is scheduled to premiere on November 27 at 4:00 a.m. Moscow time. On that day the first volume of four episodes will be released, the second volume (three episodes) will follow on December 26, and the final episode will close out the story on January 1, 2026.
