Stellar Blade: Blood Rain Criticized by Players as Developers Acknowledge Errors

Comment Views: 1

The developers of Stellar Blade: Blood Rain acknowledged valid player criticism following the release of an AI-generated promotional video and promised to change their approach to marketing the game.

Shift Up’s recent ad campaign sparked a wave of backlash among players anticipating the continuation of Stellar Blade. The studio debuted a clip created using artificial intelligence. Users criticized the protagonist’s unnatural appearance, shifting facial geometry, stuttering imagery, and the overall quality of the video.

Shift Up Chief Technical Officer DongKi Lee acknowledged that the studio understands the concern and frustration of players. According to him, the goal was merely to showcase the atmosphere of the world and the characters in an unusual way, but the audience reaction prompted the team to reconsider their approach to communicating with fans.

Moving forward, the developers intend to clearly separate official gameplay materials from experimental advertising formats to avoid giving players a false impression of the project’s quality. The company also stated that player feedback will influence future trailers for the sequel.
