Spider-Man: A New Day Becomes Highest-Grossing Film in North American History

The Tom Holland film has taken the record from the seventh episode of Star Wars, which held the top spot since 2015.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has taken first place on the list of highest-grossing films in North American box office history. Over 47 days, the comic book movie grossed $936.773 million, surpassing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which earned $936.6 million.

Previously, Brand New Day became the fastest film to cross major box office milestones from $400 million to $900 million in North America. The picture also set an opening weekend record by bringing in $360 million and held the number one spot on the chart for six weeks.

Worldwide earnings for Brand New Day have reached approximately $2.4 billion. The film ranks third in history, trailing Avengers: Endgame at $2.7 billion and Avatar, which collected about $2.9 billion.
