Sex mechanic cut from Halloween: The Game before release

Some players have already had a chance to try out the mechanic and want it back.

Players recently gained early access to Halloween: The Game. Only buyers of the more expensive edition can play right now, while the standard release is expected in a few days.

Halloween: The Game is based on the iconic horror franchise, and early players discovered a specific “sex mechanic” referencing the classics. Two characters could hide in a closet, after which a heart icon and the option to launch a mini-game appeared on the screen.

Players were prompted to press buttons, and upon completing this mini-game, a bonus was awarded. Nothing was shown directly, but characteristic camera shaking let players know exactly what the characters were doing inside the closet.

Footage of the mini-game from Halloween: The Game went viral online, and the developers soon released a hotfix. The patch notes only mentioned bug fixes, but after installing the update, players quickly noticed that the authors of the game had removed the sex.

Players assume that the developers removed this mini-game temporarily to introduce activation restrictions for certain characters. One of the playable characters is extremely old, and such an interaction with younger characters raised questions for some people.

Modders will likely be able to bring the mechanic back in its original form. Halloween: The Game was released with standard DRM protection, which hackers quickly bypassed, meaning an earlier build of the game is currently available online.
