Sega Delays Football Simulator “Football Club Champions” — Release Pushed to Next Year

The football games market is going through a significant reshuffle. After FIFA’s rebranding to EA Sports FC and recent initiatives from Konami and UFL, SEGA has entered the competition. Sega Football Club Champions was conceived to blend realistic on-field simulation with deep managerial mechanics, drawing on technology used in Football Manager.

Sega has confirmed a release delay. The title, originally scheduled for 2025, will now launch in early 2026 and be renamed Sega Football Club Champions 2026. Developers say the decision followed closed beta tests in August; additional time is required to polish the experience and add features that will allow the project to compete with other sports simulators.

The game will arrive on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC and mobile devices (iOS and Android), retaining a free-to-play model. In November, Sega will host a YouTube livestream to showcase new footage, detail gameplay, and reveal the precise release date.
