Saw: Genesis, an asymmetrical horror game published by Bloober Team

The Saw cinematic universe serves as a perfect blueprint for psychological horror, where the grotesque stakes feel infinitely more visceral when you are the one pulling the strings—or fighting for your life. While many fans anticipated a narrative-driven solo experience, the newly announced Saw: Genesis, unveiled at Summer Game Fest, pivots toward an intense asymmetrical multiplayer format. You can view the chilling announcement trailer below:

Set against the grim backdrop of the post-World War I era, Saw: Genesis introduces us to “The Judge,” a historical predecessor to the iconic Jigsaw killer. According to the game’s official Steam listing, players stepping into the role of the Judge must cultivate a strategic edge: “Customize your approach with specialized perks and lethal traps, orchestrating the match from the shadows. Unlike conventional asymmetrical horror titles, the Judge lacks brute strength; you are physically vulnerable and must rely on cunning rather than combat to overcome the Accused.”

Opposing the Judge are three “Accused” players, who must forge an uneasy alliance to navigate a claustrophobic gauntlet of pressure-filled puzzles, moral dilemmas, and ingenious death traps.

With Bloober Team serving as publisher—fresh off their acclaimed work on the Silent Hill 2 remake—expectations are high for how they will interpret this dark legacy. If you are ready to test your survival instincts, you can visit the official Steam page to add the title to your wishlist or register for the upcoming Closed Alpha.
