Spider-Man: Brand New Day to Get Extended Cut With Deleted Scenes, Reports Say

Sony has found another way to increase the box office revenue of its most successful film.

Sony is preparing an extended version of Spider-Man: Brand New Day for theaters. According to Deadline sources, it will include deleted scenes, including the appearance of Claire Temple played by Rosario Dawson.

When screenings for the extended version will begin and whether it will replace the regular version in the schedule is unknown, but this approach is not new for Sony. In 2022, Spider-Man: No Way Home returned to theaters 11 minutes longer. The extended version included new scenes featuring the three Peter Parkers, an appearance by Matt Murdock, and an alternative post-credits scene.

Sony has not yet provided official comments. However, if Deadline’s information is correct, the extended version will give Brand New Day an additional chance to compete with Avengers: Endgame for second place in the global ranking. A recent re-release of Endgame brought the film another $86 million in its opening weekend and increased its total box office collection to $2.885 billion. Brand New Day currently holds third place with $2.495 billion and trails by $390 million.
