Rumored StarCraft Shooter in Development, Not Destiny-Style Game

Some players expect a full announcement of a new StarCraft game to take place as early as this month.

Blizzard Entertainment will soon host a showcase where developers will discuss the future of World of Warcraft, Diablo, Hearthstone, and Overwatch. A new StarCraft might also be shown during the event. Rumors about the creation of a game in this franchise have circulated for a long time, with some sources mentioning a real-time strategy game, while other versions suggested it could be a shooter in the vein of the live-service game Destiny.

Prominent insider and Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier recently shared his opinion. While discussing the possible format of the new game, he stated: “I would not count on this StarCraft game being anything like Destiny.”

Jason Schreier himself talked about the development of a new shooter in the StarCraft franchise on a podcast a few years ago. There have been no official announcements since then. This information was shared with Schreier while he was gathering material for his new book. He did not disclose any specific details of the project at that time.
