Rockstar Aims to Make GTA 6 Protagonists as Beloved as Red Dead Redemption 2’s Arthur Morgan
Rockstar wants players to feel the same emotional attachment to Jason and Lucia from GTA VI as they did to Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Rockstar North head Rob Nelson shared that the studio aimed to bring the world depth of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the emotional connection players formed with Arthur into GTA VI.
We wanted to take that depth that we were able to bring to the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, and the ability to interact with the world in a much more meaningful way, and kind of that emotional connection that people end up having with Arthur.

According to Nelson, Rockstar used multiple main characters again, but the relationship between Jason and Lucia made their actions more meaningful. Quiet scenes between the characters intentionally contrast with tense moments.
When you see her get pushed down the stairs and then you switch to him and you can’t hear her, there’s a sense of anxiety.
