Remedy Adds Cross-Platform Voice Chat to FBC: Firebreak and Delays Rogue Protocol Update Until Next Year

Remedy continues to refine FBC: Firebreak, but some planned updates have been pushed back to 2026.

Remedy has delayed the major Rogue Protocol update for FBC: Firebreak — the release is now slated for January 2026. The studio explained the team “needs a bit more time” to polish content and improve balance. At the same time, the previously announced cross-platform voice chat launched on schedule and is already available in the game.

Alongside Rogue Protocol, the game will introduce a new mode called Endless Shift — a survival format set in closed arenas where waves of enemies escalate in difficulty each round. Players start with only basic equipment and, after each wave, gather Corruption — an energy resource that lets them upgrade weapons, abilities, and modifiers, crafting distinctive builds for every run.

The developers note that some upgrades strengthen weapons while others modify abilities, and certain combinations of enhancements can lead to “unexpected and potent synergies.”

Rogue Protocol will be the second major Firebreak update following September’s Breakpoint and represents another attempt by Remedy to renew interest in the project. In its October report, the studio admitted that FBC: Firebreak fell short of internal targets despite performance gains after recent updates.
