Release Date Announced for Minecraft Wilderness Bound Update Featuring New Biome and Features

The developers have fixed several technical issues ahead of launch.

In early September, the Mojang Studios team published a blog post dedicated to the upcoming Minecraft update featuring new content. The update is named “Wilderness Bound”.

Now the developers have presented the “26.3 Release Candidate 2” for Minecraft and revealed the release date for the update, which is scheduled for September 15, barring any changes.

This release candidate contains only a single bug fix under the code number MC-311782. A tester reported that clicking the button to open the resource pack folder (“Open Resource Pack Folder”) caused Minecraft to freeze.

The user who discovered this bug explained that this happens because “the SDL implementation works synchronously and blocks the current main thread of the calling code until the task is completed.” They conducted tests and noted that “the process can take a few seconds, but such system behavior was probably not intended.”

With the release of the Wilderness Bound update, Minecraft will add a lot of new content and features. Players will have the opportunity to explore the Dappled forest biome, craft a straw bed that allows them to skip the night in the Overworld without resetting their spawn point, though it will break after use. There will also be a sitting feature, allowing players to craft cushions.

The Wilderness Bound update for Minecraft is expected to be the final major update of the current year.
