RAM Shortage Threatens Another Xbox Console Price Increase

RAM Shortage Threatens Another Xbox Console Price Increase

In 2025 the Xbox’s U.S. price has already climbed from $499.99 to $649.99, and it appears Microsoft may be preparing another increase. Tech blogger Moore’s Law Is Dead says a RAM shortage in the United States could heavily impact console production.

“Xbox did not anticipate this situation,” the insider points out. The company may now either raise prices again to offset higher production costs or pause manufacturing.

Competitor PlayStation is in a stronger position. Sony purchased memory earlier at lower prices, which should allow it to keep console prices stable for several more months.

“They have enough GDDR6. Prices might rise, but later — possibly next year,” Moore’s Law Is Dead adds.

There is no official confirmation yet, but given two price increases last year and the broader trend of rising console costs, further price jumps now look likely.
