Quentin Tarantino Announces First New Movie in Seven Years for Next Month Release

Comment Views: 2

Quentin Tarantino fans have spent seven years waiting to see what the filmmaker might do next. Since Once Upon a Time in Hollywood reached theaters in 2019, Tarantino focused on books, interviews, and plans for a final film. That milestone was meant to be The Movie Critic in 2024, but Tarantino shelved the script before production began. That changes next month.

Arriving in theaters in November, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth brings back Brad Pitt as the stuntman from the 2019 film. This chapter is set nearly a decade after the original story. Tarantino wrote the script, but David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) directs the project.

The upcoming film revisits Tarantino’s alternate-history version of Hollywood. Here is what you need to know about The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth before it lands in theaters and Netflix.

What is The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth about?

Set in 1977, eight years after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the story follows the former stuntman working as a Hollywood fixer. Cliff uses his skills to resolve problems for powerful people while working odd jobs as a bartender and projectionist.

The narrative begins when talent agent Karen Crosby (Elizabeth Debicki) enlists Cliff for her client, television star Charlie Peters (Scott Caan). Charlie navigates Hollywood alongside his wife, Toni (Carla Gugino), and former pro football star Roderick “Hot Rod” Harrison (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). Meanwhile, gangsters played by Matt Groove and JB Tadena create trouble.

The film shifts away from the fairy-tale atmosphere of its predecessor toward a crime story set in 1970s Los Angeles. Pitt returns alongside Timothy Olyphant, who reprises his role as actor James Stacy. Stacy was last seen riding a motorcycle in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, referencing the real actor’s 1973 accident.

Fincher directs while Tarantino provides the screenplay. Fincher brings a dark vision established in films like Seven, Gone Girl, and The Killer, contrasting with Tarantino’s comedic pulp style.

When is The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’s release date?

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth debuts on Netflix on Dec. 23, 2026. Prior to streaming, the film receives an exclusive two-week IMAX theatrical run beginning Nov. 25.

The release marks Tarantino’s first new feature screenplay since Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Tarantino passed the project to Fincher after Pitt suggested the director.
