PSA: ReedPop has acquired RPS house owners Gamer Network

Gamer Network, the corporate which owns Rock, Paper, Shotgun, has been acquired by ReedPop. ReedPop run popular culture occasions corresponding to New York Comic Con, MCM Comic Con, and plenty of extra. What does this imply for Rock, Paper, Shotgun? Even lower than it did when Gamer Network acquired RPS last year.

ReedPop are shopping for Gamer Network as a result of they like what we do and since we do issues that they at present don’t. It signifies that ReedPop personal the UK’s largest video games occasions, EGX and EGX Rezzed, but additionally have an editorial enterprise that features RPS, Eurogamer, VG247 and rather more. Everyone at present at RPS is staying at RPS, everybody at present at Gamer Network is staying at Gamer Network. None of our editorial insurance policies are altering.

As effectively as many comedian conventions, ReedPop additionally personal PAX, having purchased it from Penny Arcade in 2009. They are themselves part of Reed Exhibitions, who’re themselves part of RELX Group. When Gamer Network acquired us, we mentioned that “RPS now has big boys to hang with in the playground.” Now our massive boys have massive boys. It’s massive boys all the best way up.

We hope it’s clear that RPS continues to be producing the identical type of content material with the identical requirements it at all times has since we joined Gamer Network final 12 months. We equally hope we’ll be capable of display that that work and people requirements will proceed within the years forward. Finally, we hope that ReedPop will give us all free flights and tickets to New York Comic Con, so we are able to heckle Kieron.
