Production has begun on the series “Through Hardships to the Stars,” based on the novel by Kir Bulychev
The streaming platform Kinopoisk has officially announced the start of production for its new science fiction series, Through Hardships to the Stars. The project draws its inspiration from Kir Bulychev’s renowned novel, The Village.
Set in the 23rd century, the story follows a desperate humanity coping with an overpopulated Earth. A research vessel, the Magellan, is tasked with identifying a habitable world. Upon arriving at planet #934, the crew discovers that it has already been settled by the survivors of a long-lost expedition who crashed there years ago. These settlers have built a life in their isolated “Village” and, despite their desire to return to Earth, are deeply reluctant to relinquish control of the planet to the newcomers from the Magellan.
The series features an ensemble cast, including Denis Shvedov, Alexandra Bortich, Sergey Gilev, Maria Andreeva, and David Sokratyan. Karina Chuvikova (known for Chemistry Between Us) serves as both director and screenwriter. The production is spearheaded by Mediaslovo, with official support provided by Roscosmos.
The first season will consist of six episodes. An official release date has yet to be confirmed.
