Florence Pugh’s “East of Eden” to be released in October
Netflix has unveiled a first look at its upcoming adaptation of John Steinbeck’s classic novel, “East of Eden.” The highly anticipated series, featuring Florence Pugh in the lead role, is set to debut on the streaming platform on October 1st.
Joining Pugh in this expansive family saga are Christopher Abbott (of the new “X-Men” franchise), Mike Faist (“Challengers”), and rising star Joseph Zada, among others. The narrative traces the multi-generational journey of the Trask family throughout the early 20th century.
The most iconic previous rendition of the source material remains Elia Kazan’s 1955 film starring James Dean. This new seven-part limited series features a script penned by Zoe Kazan (“Ruby Sparks”), with directing duties shared by Garth Davis (“Lion”) and Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre (“Lady Chatterley’s Lover”).
