Police in GTA VI Will Remember Criminals and Make Escapes Difficult
In GTA VI, the police will feature an improved “memory” and will be able to remember the player’s clothing and vehicle, meaning that simply escaping a pursuit will no longer guarantee safety.
Rockstar has abandoned the system where it was enough to briefly disappear from the sight of cops for them to almost immediately forget what happened.
Rob Nelson, co-head of Rockstar North, shared that a “heat” system handles the new mechanic. Beneath the wanted level, information will be displayed detailing exactly what the police know about the protagonist. Cops can remember the player’s clothing or vehicle and then recognize the player again even after the wanted level disappears.
The mini-map will also change because police officers will no longer automatically appear on the radar during a chase. The player will have to monitor the surroundings and anticipate the actions of the cops. A Focus feature will help by allowing players to spot police through walls.
It might be harder, but it’s fun. It will make players think more.
Residents of Vice City will also react more realistically to the protagonist’s weapons.
