Pokémon Legends: Z‑A Tops UK Charts but Trails Arceus by 40%

Pokémon Legends: Z-A debuted at number one in UK physical sales during its launch week. The latest franchise entry opened solidly, though its sales were roughly 40% lower than those of its predecessor, Pokémon Legends: Arceus (2022).

Nevertheless, the title has recorded a strong start, helped by heightened demand for the new Switch 2 edition.

Dring noted that 51% of all boxed copies were for the Switch 2, with the remainder sold on the original Switch. A single UK week provides only an initial snapshot of the game’s commercial performance; a fuller picture will emerge once Famitsu’s Japanese charts and Circana’s North American data are published. Early figures point to robust digital interest: Z-A is leading the eShop charts on both Switch and Switch 2. As the first Pokémon release spanning two console generations, the game may sustain steady sales momentum.

Developer Game Freak and publishers Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have positioned Z-A as the second entry in the Legends series following Arceus. Set in Lumiose City in the Kalos region, the game reimagines the franchise’s formula through a narrative-driven open world.
