The developers of RPCS3 continue to work on optimization.

The developers of the PlayStation 3 emulator known as RPCS3 recently shared a new technical achievement, successfully running a console exclusive at a high frame rate.

According to the creators of RPCS3, Twisted Metal has reached 70 FPS on PC for the first time:

The result was obtained using a “Max Performance” build on a PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor running the Linux operating system. This splash screen serves as an excellent and stable in-game benchmark that allows us to evaluate performance directly in gameplay. Some of the optimizations used are still in an “in development” status.

By “Max Performance,” the RPCS3 developers mean a PC running Linux with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, a graphics card on the level of an AMD RX 7800 XT or NVIDIA RTX 4070, 16 GB of RAM, and an SSD.

Previously, the creators of the RPCS3 emulator shared that they were able to achieve a substantial performance boost on NVIDIA graphics cards after finding a workaround for a specific driver-related issue (AMD does not have this bug).
