Nvidia Confirms DLSS 5 Support for RTX 40 Series

NVIDIA has confirmed that DLSS 5 will receive official support across the entire GeForce RTX 40 series following optimization, although an exact release date for the update is still unknown.

Jacob Freeman of NVIDIA stated that DLSS 5 has become the company’s most demanding computational model. Its performance has increased fivefold since its March presentation, though work on optimization is ongoing. The priority remains with the RTX 50 series, which will receive higher-performing versions of the technology in the fall. After that, NVIDIA will adapt DLSS 5 for the RTX 40 series.

DLSS 5 uses 3D-Guided Neural Rendering to modify lighting, materials, shadows, and character appearances using AI. The technology analyzes each frame, placing a heavier load on the tensor cores than previous DLSS versions. This is precisely why support was initially restricted to the RTX 50 series.

GeForce Game Ready 616.64 WHQL drivers were also released today with support for DLSS 5 in NBA 2K27. For now, Neural Rendering is available exclusively to RTX 50 owners. NVIDIA has not disclosed any plans regarding official support for the RTX 30 and RTX 20 series.
