No Longer a Damsel in Distress: Farah to Be Strong and Independent in the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake — Rumor
Ubisoft is refreshing not only the game’s visuals but its narrative tone as well.
According to an internal Ubisoft presentation from 2024, the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake will no longer depict Princess Farah as a “damsel in distress”; she has been reimagined as an independent combatant.
A video briefly appeared on YouTube showing slides from the confidential Ubisoft presentation — snippets of motion-capture scenes, alpha gameplay footage, and concept art. The clip was promptly taken down at the rights holder’s request, but not before journalists noticed it.
One of the presentation’s central points is the transformation of Princess Farah, the Prince’s companion in the original 2003 title. In the classic Sands of Time, Farah accompanied the hero for much of the game and joined fights, yet frequently required rescuing: if an enemy killed her, the mission would fail.
Farah is now presented as a genuine ally: she can fight on her own with a bow and execute coordinated attacks. You no longer need to guard her.
The presentation also states that the developers have overhauled the combat system, introduced new acrobatic maneuvers, and expanded the game’s time-manipulation mechanics.
