Nintendo Releases Major Update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch 2

Nintendo has released update 4.0.0 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, bringing enhanced graphics, eight-player local support, CameraPlay, and a 96-course mode to the Switch 2.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2017, and Nintendo continues to support the hit game nine years later. Update 4.0.0 is prepared specifically for the Switch 2.

On the new console, image quality has been improved for both handheld screens and high-resolution televisions, while loading times before races and battles have been shortened.

Local multiplayer now supports up to eight players on a single screen. Support for CameraPlay has also been added, allowing the camera to display players’ faces during gameplay and online matches via GameChat.

Nintendo has increased the base speed of racers by an amount equal to the bonus from a single coin, and Boo no longer slows the player down when driving off-road.

Owners of the Booster Course Pass gain access to the “96 Races” mode, which makes it possible to play through all 96 tracks from the game and its downloadable content in a single continuous run.
