Nintendo Details Future Plans for Successor to Switch

Following nearly 20 million Switch 2 sales and the announcement of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, Nintendo stated that the console’s current success is merely the beginning of the company’s large-scale plans.

Nintendo is currently experiencing a successful period as the Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling gaming system in US history, with sales approaching 20 million nearly a year after its release. Nintendo of America Chief Operating Officer Devon Pritchard stated:

We are at the beginning of the Nintendo Switch 2 journey. This is only the beginning, and we already have wonderful projects, both from ourselves and from third-party companies.

Pritchard also noted Nintendo’s successes in the film industry. A The Legend of Zelda film created in partnership with Sony Pictures will release in late April. According to her, the company is particularly interested in partnerships that will introduce its projects not only to current players, but also to a new audience.

Among the games, Pritchard specifically mentioned The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. At the same time, Nintendo is actively developing its cinematic direction, with filming for The Legend of Zelda movie in New Zealand having already wrapped.
