Both updates will launch on January 15, 2026.
Nintendo has revealed a 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as well as a dedicated Animal Crossing: New Horizons — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The Switch 2 edition will be sold separately for $64.99, while the upgrade from the current Switch version will cost $4.99.
The Switch 2 edition delivers higher-resolution visuals, mouse support, an in-game megaphone that uses the console’s built-in microphone, 12-player multiplayer, and a CameraPlay mode.
Update 3.0 brings a Kapp’n-run resort hotel to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, new themed items and characters, Switch Online exclusives like Slumber Island, and a variety of other additions.
