The company is already working to fix the situation.

Some Nintendo Switch 2 owners ran into an unpleasant surprise over the weekend when their consoles suddenly lost access to Nintendo online services, even though the users had not committed any violations. According to player reports, an internal server-side glitch caused the issue.

When starting up their devices, affected users received an error code message warning them that their console was permanently blocked from connecting to the internet due to a user agreement violation. Nintendo listed fraudulent or unauthorized transactions among the potential reasons.

On Reddit, Switch 2 owners reported receiving bans despite having completely clean purchase and download histories. Challenging such a decision on their own proved difficult.

The situation quickly caught Nintendo’s attention. One Reddit user shared that they contacted support twice, and during the second contact, a company representative acknowledged the problem on the server side. According to the representative, Nintendo had already begun rolling out a fix.

After restarting the console, the user’s ban disappeared. Other Switch 2 owners also reported regaining access to online services after a reboot.
