Nexus Mods Has No Plans to Ban AI-Generated Content
Nexus Mods will require mod creators to disclose whether they used generative AI in their content, but the platform has decided against a blanket ban on AI-generated content. The decision aims to find a compromise between supporters and opponents of the technology.
Creators will have to publicly explain how and at what stages of development they used AI.
Creators of already published mods will have a 60-day transition period. After that, the requirements will apply to everyone. Moderators will check compliance manually, and users are encouraged to report mods whose creators conceal their use of AI.

According to platform owner Foledinho, the use of generative AI can vary considerably. Some creators use it to make almost an entire mod, while others use it for individual elements or exclusively to write code.
The platform already has tags that indicate the extent of AI use. Users will now also be able to use those tags to filter mods directly on the homepage and hide content they do not want to see.
