New Still Shows Emma Mackey as Jadis in Narnia
Empire continues to introduce audiences to the characters from the new C.S. Lewis adaptation.
Empire magazine has published another still of Emma Mackey as Jadis from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew. The actress appears once again in her familiar metallic outfit featuring a distinct glam-rock aesthetic, which has already sparked heated debates within the community.
Some users have criticized Greta Gerwig for her loose reimagining of Jadis, while others have embraced the unusual look. Supporters of the chosen style have also pointed out that the story takes place long before the events of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, back when the character had not yet become the White Witch.

Mackey herself describes Jadis as a being who defies conventional containment:
“In the script, she is described as the embodiment of chaos and bad decisions. She is like a creature that cannot be contained within normal frameworks.”
Meanwhile, Greta Gerwig wanted to create a large-scale rock opera capable of transporting viewers to another world:
“Narnia is literally woven from music. Aslan awakens this world with his song, and rock and roll was for me also a world woven from music.”
Early IMAX screenings of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew will begin on February 10, 2027. The film will receive a wide international theatrical release on February 12, and it will arrive on Netflix on April 2.
