New Spider-Man Screenings in Russia Delayed Due to “Kolobok”

The film distribution company Atmosphere Kino has formally requested that domestic cinemas postpone the unauthorized screening of the comic book adaptation “Spider-Man: New Day” until August 20.

This shift comes in response to the accelerated release of the fantasy film “The Last Warrior: Kolobok,” which will now premiere on August 6 instead of the previously scheduled August 13. The Association of Cinema Owners (AVK) has officially endorsed this decision.

Supporting high-profile domestic projects is vital for the health of the cinema industry. To mitigate direct competition and ensure efficient resource allocation, we are revising the release schedules for incoming international titles. This strategy optimizes our release calendar and ensures the best possible outcomes for all stakeholders in the industry,

— the Association stated, as quoted by BK Media. “Kolobok” serves as a spin-off to “The Last Warrior” franchise, featuring the voice of Garik Kharlamov in the title role.

“Spider-Man: New Day” is set for a global release on July 30, with screenings in CIS nations, including Kazakhstan, beginning August 6. The “pre-show service” screenings in Russia were originally slated to coincide with this date. The latest installment in Peter Parker’s journey stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, and Sadie Sink, with direction by Destin Daniel Cretton (“Shang-Chi”).
