Stephen King raves about the new “Carrie”

Renowned author Stephen King has offered high praise for the latest screen adaptation of his debut novel, Carrie. The series, helmed by Mike Flanagan (known for The Haunting of Hill House), is set to premiere on streaming platforms on October 7.

“Mike Flanagan’s take on Carrie is magnificent. His commentary on social media is both shocking and startlingly accurate,”

— King noted on Threads.

This adaptation reimagines the story within a contemporary setting. The protagonist, a withdrawn high school student named Carrie (portrayed by Summer H. Howell), faces relentless bullying from her peers, only to uncover dormant telekinetic powers that she eventually unleashes in a quest for vengeance.

The most iconic cinematic interpretation of the story remains Brian De Palma’s 1976 classic—a film that King famously preferred over his own original source material.
