DC Is Developing a New John Constantine Movie
DC Studios has begun developing a new film about John Constantine, the demon hunter and occult expert from DC Comics. Francis Galluppi, who is set to direct an upcoming installment in the Evil Dead horror franchise, will write the screenplay.
Constantine made his comic-book debut in The Saga of the Swamp Thing in 1985. Created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and John Totleben, he later became the lead character in his own series, Hellblazer. A cynical British detective, Constantine investigates supernatural mysteries, practices magic and regularly crosses paths with demons and other otherworldly beings.
Keanu Reeves previously portrayed the character on the big screen in Francis Lawrence’s 2005 film Constantine. Matt Ryan played him in the 2014 television series of the same name and in several other projects set in DC’s television universe.
