Actor cast as Angel in the new X-Men movie
Marvel has finalized its casting for the role of Angel in the highly anticipated X-Men reboot. The character will be portrayed by Gen V breakout star Asa Germann.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Germann was initially considered for the role of Cyclops, which was ultimately secured by Kit Connor. The star-studded ensemble will also feature Samara Weaving, Adam Driver, Christopher Abbott, Indi Navarrete, Sadie Sink, and newcomer Maya Boyd. The project is set to be helmed by Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier.
Angel, who later assumes the mantle of Archangel, first debuted in the comic books during the 1960s as a founding member of the X-Men. Born Warren Worthington III into a wealthy family, the mutant was ostracized by his relatives due to his wings and innate ability to fly, eventually finding sanctuary under Professor Xavier’s tutelage. The character has previously appeared in the X-Men film franchise: portrayed by Ben Foster in 2006’s The Last Stand and by Ben Hardy in 2016’s Apocalypse.
The 28-year-old Germann is also recognized for his appearances in Scream 7 and the inaugural season of Netflix’s Monsters anthology series.
