New Shelob and Gollum Miniatures Unveiled for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game

In the coming months pre-orders will open for new Shelob and Gollum miniatures for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, as well as the magazine “Gollum’s Betrayal,” which contains nine narrative scenarios.

Games Workshop has unveiled new plastic miniatures for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game.

Players will be able to add Shelob — the ravenous, giant she-spider born of Ungoliant and the ancestor of Mirkwood’s spiders — to their collections. After moving into Mordor she established her lair in the pass of Cirith Ungol and remained there through the Second and Third Ages.

A new Gollum figure — posed on a rock in his familiar stance — will also be released, together with a miniature of Frodo ensnared in webbing. This Frodo model is intended for the scenario “Master Samwise’s Valor,” which appears in the forthcoming 48-page magazine “Gollum’s Betrayal.”

“Gollum’s Betrayal” contains nine linked narrative scenarios that follow the hobbits’ passage through Cirith Ungol and their encounters with Shelob and Gollum. Each scenario can be played on its own or as part of an extended campaign, with rules that evolve depending on whether the forces of Good or Evil prevail.

The magazine includes a detailed painting guide for Gollum and Shelob, complete with color mixes and technique notes, step-by-step instructions for painting the web-entangled Frodo, and tips for crafting game tiles that represent Shelob’s lair and arranging them to build a full battlefield.

The Shelob, Gollum, and ring-bearer miniatures are offered together in the “Path of Cirith Ungol: Shelob & Gollum” set. Both the figures and the magazine will be available for pre-order in the coming months.
