New PlayStation 2 Emulator for Android Soon to Receive Online Multiplayer Support
The ARMSX2 developers are preparing to introduce a capability not available in any other PlayStation 2 emulator.
The ARMSX2 team, creators of a new PlayStation 2 emulator for Android, announced that the app will soon gain online multiplayer support. This will give it a clear edge over popular alternatives like AetherSX2 and NetherSX2, which do not offer multiplayer functionality.
In addition to networked play, the update will introduce a redesigned user interface, an updated PCSX2 core, and support for custom graphics drivers. The latter may enhance performance and stability compared with standard drivers. That improvement is particularly important for ARMSX2, since translating x86 code to the Arm architecture currently leaves it behind AetherSX2 and NetherSX2 in terms of speed.
The team also confirmed they are developing a PS1 emulator named ARMSX — a fork of the PSXE project. It will feature its own interface, virtual memory card support, save states, and will be released on Google Play.
No exact release dates have been announced yet.
