Netflix is scaling up its gaming efforts and plans to leverage generative AI to build new interactive entertainment experiences.

The company has posted an opening for a Director of Gen AI for Games who will craft the strategic vision, steward the rollout of AI-driven mechanics, and collaborate closely with internal and external studios. The aim is to bolster the game catalogue and pioneer fresh forms of engagement.

Over recent years Netflix has been actively expanding into gaming — acquiring several studios and releasing mobile versions of major titles, including a remastered Grand Theft Auto Trilogy. The firm now intends to experiment with AI in ways comparable to Xbox’s MUSE initiative and EA’s ChatGPT-based assistant.

The ideal candidate should have more than ten years in the games industry and practical experience with machine-learning technologies. The posted salary range is $430,000 to $840,000. Netflix treats its gaming lineup as a testbed for inventive interactivity, recalling projects like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Squid Game: Unleashed.

Key responsibilities will include defining the Gen AI strategy, prototyping AI-enabled gameplay mechanics, embedding AI into studio pipelines, and forging partnerships with external developers and research organizations.
