Modder adds split-screen co-op to Bloodborne PC port
The feature will be available to use on Windows as well as Linux.
Bloodborne is officially available only on PlayStation consoles, but tech enthusiasts have used an emulator to offer an alternative way to play on PC. Fans are now improving this unofficial PC version of the FromSoftware game in various ways.
While some modders are upgrading the graphics, an enthusiast known as ReachForJuggernog98_ has introduced a splitscreen cooperative mode for Bloodborne on Linux PCs:
Thanks to shadPS4, PartyDeck (a Linux alternative to NucleusCoop), and a fork of shadnet coop by Wozzardman (and myself), I was able to write a PartyDeck handler for shadPS4 — you can now play Bloodborne co-op with splitscreen! My software works with the shadPS4 emulator in general and is not tied specifically to Bloodborne; co-op in any specific game simply requires shadnet support.
The project has impressed Bloodborne fans. ReachForJuggernog98_ noted that there was high demand for such a cooperative mode from Windows users, prompting him to soon introduce a similar project for that operating system:
The logic is the same, but setup is significantly simpler than the Linux version: the server starts automatically, everything works completely offline via Wozzardman’s fork, and clients are registered and configured for each game instance.
