Koei Tecmo has pulled back the curtain on Attack on Titan 3, offering a comprehensive look at the upcoming adaptation of the global phenomenon. First unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2026, this latest entry promises to cover the entirety of the source material and is slated for a winter launch.
The details emerged during an extensive 45-minute showcase on July 1, which featured an action-packed gameplay trailer. Unlike its predecessors—developed by Omega Force and released in 2016 and 2018—which only explored specific narrative arcs, Attack on Titan 3 aims to encompass the full breadth of the story. While players will still navigate mission-based objectives, this installment introduces a fresh open-world mode for unfettered exploration. Furthermore, the signature ODM gear mechanics have been refined for a more fluid and responsive traversal experience.
Beyond the intense titan combat, the game emphasizes social depth, allowing players to engage in conversations with familiar faces from the anime. Notably, players will step into the shoes of a customizable original character, placing them directly into the heart of the series’ most pivotal moments rather than simply replaying Eren Yeager’s perspective.
Koei Tecmo confirmed a winter release window, spanning late 2026 through early 2027. In a surprising development, the studio announced that the game’s opening cinematic is being crafted by MAPPA—the acclaimed team behind The Final Season, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Chainsaw Man—under the direction of renowned action animator Arifumi Imai. Interestingly, this sequence will not be available at launch but will arrive via a post-release update.
Attack on Titan 3 is coming this winter to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
