Rockstar Reveals GTA VI Completion Time
Completing the story of Grand Theft Auto VI took around 80 hours during internal playthroughs, even without full world exploration or finishing every side activity, according to Rockstar Games.
Rockstar North co-head Rob Nelson told The New York Times that he completed a full playthrough of the studio’s upcoming title in February 2026. Going through the story of GTA VI took about 80 hours. Nelson did not attempt to see everything, focusing instead on finishing the main campaign along with select narrative-affecting side objectives.

Players are expected to spend significantly more time in the game if they explore the state of Leonida thoroughly and tackle all optional content. Rockstar previously stated that the GTA 6 map is three times larger than the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, calling Leonida the deepest, most densely populated, and most complex open world in the studio’s history.
Rockstar wants players to do more than just complete missions, encouraging them to immerse themselves in the everyday lives of protagonists Jason and Lucia.
I hope that there will be people who just want to get up, drink a cup of coffee, take a shower, get dressed, and head out to work out for a bit.
