Manor Lords developers discuss progress — optimization, AI and gameplay improvements
Work on the next major update is well underway.
Manor Lords creator Greg Styczeń recently spoke with Tim, the CEO of publisher Hooded Horse. They agreed to start publishing periodic progress updates.
Greg granted Hooded Horse access to his development team’s internal server and planning board so the publisher can see what the Manor Lords team is currently working on. Tim reviewed the materials and highlighted several key points:
- Developers have implemented several gameplay improvements: households now actively participate in constructing upgradable buildings; workers will choose the nearest trees for harvesting; and the wood transport system has been optimized for greater efficiency.
- Balance adjustments are being applied — for example, building costs and production volumes for certain items have been tweaked.
- Numerous UI and AI improvements have been prepared — the AI now erects buildings far more effectively and manages the economy better. For example, the AI will no longer expand a livestock pen if it cannot afford to use it properly, and it will avoid selling tools until it can accurately assess its needs.
- About 130 bugs have already been fixed, and various crashes are being addressed.
- Extensive performance work has been completed: animations have been optimized and memory leaks resolved.
