Lawyers’ threats didn’t stop him: modder added Thomas the Tank Engine to TES III: Morrowind
The iconic character has popped up in yet another game.
Recently, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind received a meme-style mod. Thomas the Tank Engine is now featured in the game.
The mod was created by Trainwiz (Kevin Brock), a well-known figure in the modding scene. He’s produced similar mods for other titles before, which previously caused trouble — legal representatives raised complaints.
According to Brock, lawyers claimed he was damaging the character’s image:
It was some intermediary law firm from Macedonia. They accused me of tarnishing Thomas’s image by showing him explode (and conveniently said nothing about scenes where he brutally kills people). They filed a complaint and the video was removed the first time. The second time, however, YouTube — without my involvement — determined the Thomas video was legal under parody law. That was satisfying.
In 2025 the creator returned to the Thomas & Friends franchise. The Thomas mod for TES III: Morrowind, “Really Useful Cliffracers,” has already been released on Nexus Mods.
