Sora in Kingdom Hearts IV

It has been a long wait since the initial Kingdom Hearts IV reveal back in 2022. For years, dedicated fans have been scouring every released screenshot and developer snippet for a hint of progress. In a surprise appearance during today’s Nintendo Direct, Square Enix finally broke the silence with a fresh gameplay trailer—and a massive announcement: the title is officially heading to the Nintendo Switch 2, alongside PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

While the footage stopped short of providing a concrete release date, the content itself is a visual treat. The new trailer offers an extended look at high-octane combat set against the backdrop of modern-day Tokyo. Watching a more mature, realistic-looking Sora navigate the Shibuya district while fending off Heartless is an impressive spectacle that highlights the series’ evolution.
